Best Treatments for Targeting Pigmentation
Facial pigmentation, also known as hyperpigmentation, is a common skin condition that affects many people. It is characterised by dark patches or spots on the skin which can vary in shape and size. Coming out of summer, pigmentation can be at an all-time high due to prolonged sun exposure. Pigmentation can also be caused by; melasma occurring during pregnancy or while taking contraceptive pills, post-injury inflammation, medical conditions, and medications. It is important to consult a GP or dermatologist to work out the direct cause of your pigmentation.
Unfortunately, there is no magic overnight cure when it comes to pigmentation removal, it can sometimes be a long process, but if treated correctly, its appearance can be reduced over time. Fortunately, there are treatments & products which can help to reduce the appearance of pigmentation. We have recently introduced our Pigmentation Package at SELF which can be specifically tailored to your pigmentation concerns.
Our Pigmentation Package includes:
8 x Signature Peels
IS Clinical Pro-heal
O Cosmedics B3
IS Clinical Brightening Complex
Medik8 Physical Sunscreen SPF 50+
Our Signature Peel is an advanced exfoliation treatment designed to eliminate dead skin cells, reduce congestion and leave skin feeling balanced and hydrated. With each peel formulated to address a different skin concern, your therapist will tailor the treatment specific to your skinβs needs & pigmentation concerns, selecting from either or Medik8 or O COSMEDICS range. Includes a double cleanse, scrub, peel mask, eye cream, serum, moisturiser & SPF. Peels work to work down the top layer of the skin, revealing fresher, less pigmented skin underneath.
When it comes to trying to remove pigmentation, it is not a fast process - our therapists recommended 8 sessions and in some cases, more sessions may be required. In addition to our pigmentation package, we also recommend:
Wearing sunscreen daily, with SPF 50+ (this is included in the package)
Wearing a hat, protective clothing, and sunscreen when out in the sun
Staying in the shade where possible, try to avoid direct sunlight during peak sun hours 10 am-4pm
Look at your current medications, some medications can make your skin more sensitive to the sun and worsen pigmentation.
Drink at least 2 litres of water a day
Please email us below to book your pigmentation and one of SELF therapists will organise an initial skin consultation with you to guide you through the process.
