Your Pre-Holiday Beauty Checklist | How This Beauty Expert Is Prepping Ahead of Her Italian Summer Abroad

When travelling overseas there’s a lot to do before you leave. From booking travel and accommodation, organising currency exchange and mapping out your itinerary, not to mention planning your outfits and making sure it fits in the suitcase, there are a lot of things to check off your list.

And to help with the most important of all, your pre-holiday beauty checklist, Beauty Expert and founder of The Parlour Room, Natalie Ferrari, is sharing with us the exact regime she’ll be following ahead of her Italian Summer abroad so that you can not only look but feel your best as soon as you step on that plane.

‘Packing and planning for a trip can be a stressful time, especially if you’re juggling kids, so I find the easiest way to make sure I’m relaxed and ready, is to book all my appointments ahead of time. That way I know they’re in the calendar and I don’t have to worry.’

Your Pre-Holiday Beauty Checklist

I start my pre-holiday beauty prep two weeks before I leave although before then, I’m regularly moisturising and exfoliating and being consistent with my skincare routine at home so the foundations are there.

WAXING

The first thing I do is book my waxing a week before I leave. I prefer waxing over shaving as it not only lasts longer (a typical hair cycle is usually 4-6 weeks before it grows back) but can also act as a form of exfoliation which is perfect if you’re getting a spray tan.

BROWS & LASHES

I’ll book my brow wax and tint and lash tint for the same time as my wax appointment. You can do this anywhere in the week leading up to your flight, however, I’m also going to be booking in for the Jet Setter facial, so need to allow enough time for the skin to settle before this.

Brow wax & tint | $85
Lash tint | $35

If you’re going for more than two weeks, I would definitely suggest booking in for the lash lift and/or brow lamination combo. It’s an effortless, low-maintenance treatment to have your brows and lashes looking perfect all holiday long.

Lash lift | $125
*OR swap for Lash Lift & Brow Lamination Combo | $225

Vanilla Body Bliss

I love, love this treatment. It’s the perfect total body exfoliation to prep your skin ahead of a spray tan. It’s also extremely hydrating at the same time. I’ll book this in about 3 days prior to my spray tan but I also regularly exfoliate and moisturise at home with the Sunescape Hydrating Body Butter so if I don’t have time between all the packing, I know my skin will be ready for the spray tan regardless.

Vanilla Body Bliss | $220

Jet Setter Facial

The environment on an aeroplane can be extremely harsh and unforgiving on your skin so anything you can do in the form of prevention is key here. Especially if you’re going to be on a long-haul flight your skin can shrivel up like a prune.

So whether it’s before or after your trip, The Jet Setter is the perfect treatment to deliver a concentrated boost of hydration to the skin. It’s also really great for purifying your pores and removing any build-up of congestion which can help prevent any purging so that you’re absolutely glowing for all that pre-flight content.

Jet Setter | $220

Spray Tan

A spray tan is just what you need to get into holiday mode and for me, it’s when the holiday really begins. When I’m going away I want to make the most out of my spray tan so I’ll book this 24hrs before I leave. This way there’s enough time for the tan to develop and I can top up if needed before I get on the plane. I’ve also been using the Isle of Paradise self-tanning drops for my face for a light bronzed glow.

So that it lasts the full week I’ll make sure I’m moisturising regularly, and if I’m away any longer, I’ll always pack a gradual tan extender so I can top up along the way.  Remember to bring an exfoliating mitt with you as well, this way you can ensure the tan fades evenly and the skin remains smooth to reapply.

Spray Tan | $58

Manicure & Pedicure

I always leave this last and if I’m getting a spray tan, I’ll book these two together. For my mani, I love my bio sculpture as it lasts up to 3 weeks and is not as harsh on my nails underneath. I always go for a classic nude, particularly on holiday, so it’s clean and will work with any outfit, and for my toes I’ll usually go for something a bit brighter, adding a pop of colour like a classic red.

Bio Sculpture Manicure | $75
Shellac Pedicure | $70
