The Perfect Shade To Say I Do | Our Favourite Wedding Day Nails

Decisions, decisions, decisions. By the time it comes to choosing the perfect colour for your wedding day nails, you’re probably already over it. With so many colours to choose from, pinpointing it down to just one can seem like an impossible task.

To help make life easier, we asked our therapists to share some of their favourite colours to say I do, as well as some helpful advice that will ensure your manicure remains in perfect condition for the day and well throughout your honeymoon.

First of all, the prep

Ideally, you would have made your appointment well in advance and booked a few trial appointments beforehand. When making your booking, try and make your appointment as close to your wedding day as possible. At least 1-2 days before is ideal - the closer you can get the better.

Up until then, leave your nails alone for as long as possible; no picking, no biting, no filing, no cutting. You want to turn up with clean hands so the therapist can work their magic and give you the complete TPR experience.

This doesn't mean you can’t go without beautifully manicured nails, instead, we recommend booking in for a Nail Recovery Treatment. Why? A tailored treatment, specifically designed to repair and restore weak and damaged nails, it helps promote strength and length and also has its own bespoke nail polish which will help keep your nails in optimum health in the lead up to your wedding day. Just make sure you keep your hands well-hydrated (especially if you’re using hand sanitiser regularly) and maintain good cuticle care as well.

Choosing between Gel, SNS and Bio Sculpture

If you want your nails to last, this means forgoing the polish in your cupboard and getting a professional manicure instead. Generally lasting  2-3 weeks longer than a regular polish, gel (shellac is a common brand of gel polish), SNS and Bio Sculpture are much stronger in their composition and won't chip or break as easily. Between the three, there’s no one β€˜better’ or β€˜best’, it’s up to your personal preference. If you want to learn more, read through our article that explains the difference between Gel, SNS and Bio Sculpture.

The aftercare

Following your appointment, the key is to make your manicure last. You want to keep those nails in perfect condition well throughout the wedding and into the honeymoon. To do this, there are a few things our therapists suggest:

  • Avoid putting your hands in hot water, especially in the 24hrs hours following your appointment. This includes hot baths, try not to sit any longer than 10minutes.

  • Stay away from harsh chemicals including bleach and hand sanitiser, and try and wear gloves if you have to otherwise they can cause the nails to lift prematurely.

  • Avoid cooking any curries or using turmeric as it can stain your nails

  • Make sure you’re applying cuticle oil daily! It will help strengthen the nails and keep the skin around the nail bed intact.
